Overview

The tradition of the Clemson Ring started in 1896, seven years after the college’s founding. Since its beginning, the class ring has become a symbol of the Clemson experience and “Clemson Family” that each alumni will cherish forever.

Students are eligible to receive their class ring and participate in the Ring Ceremony when they have successfully completed 90 credit hours. Part of the tradition is that after receiving a ring, students wear the “C” engraved on top towards them. Upon graduation, graduates have an alumni turn the “C” to face out to the world, showing that they went to Clemson. There are other similar traditions that are further discussed throughout the exhibit such as changes over time, significant people, and the Ring Ceremony.
