Project Director
Dr. Joshua Catalano is the project director of Local History Matters. He is an assistant professor of history at Clemson University where he also serves as the public history coordinator.
Creators
Samuel Snipes is a December 2020 graduate of Clemson University with a B.A. in History and a minor in Political Science. He is from Belton, South Carolina and enjoys creative writing, James Bond movies, and cooking from his garden. His research interests include Modern American History, foreign policy, and Southern History. After graduation, Samuel plans to pursue a graduate degree from Clemson and a J.D. from Duke University. Someday, Samuel plans to work for the U.S. State Department as a foreign policy advisor.
Giovanni "Gigi" Gibbs graduated from Clemson University with a BA in History in 2020 with an emphasis in public history, and a minor in legal studies. Gigi is currently pursuing her MA in public history. After receiving her M.A., she plans to get her J.D. Gigi was born and raised in Rock Hill S.C., her hobbies include reading, watching documentaries, and researching and everything related to history.
Jacob D. Kea graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Political Science and minor in History in December 2018. In the Fall of 2019, Kea will be attending the University of South Carolina School of Law in pursuit of his J.D. After law school, Jacob plans to return to Upstate South Carolina to start his career. His hobbies include playing bogey golf, reading and watching the Clemson Tigers play football. Kea's research interests include the post-Civil War South, Southern politics and the American Presidency.
John McElhattan graduated with his BA in history from Clemson University in 2019 with a minor in English. John hopes to eventually attend law school. His interests and activities include all-things historical, water polo, running, leisure reading, anything Tolkien related, and video games.
Summer Crews graduated from Clemson with a BA in history and an emphasis in public history. She is currently pursuing her MA in history. She was born in Charleston, South Carolina and likes swimming, video games, and cooking.
